Loyer Named Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Foster Loyer of the Davidson men’s basketball team has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for games played Jan. 3-9, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

For the week, Loyer averaged 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while shooting 52.0 percent (13-25) from the floor, 46.0 percent (7-15) from behind the arc and 91.0 percent (11-12) at the charity stripe.

A redshirt junior from Clarkston, Mich., Loyer led the ‘Cats with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including five 3-pointers in Davidson’s convincing win at Saint Joseph’s last Wednesday.

He capped the week scoring 19 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 5 more assists over the weekend against Rhode Island. In addition, three of Loyer’s 11 free throws in the contest came in the closing seconds to secure the win.

Loyer, who ranks second in the nation in 3-point field-goal percentage at 51.2 percent (42-82), is averaging 16.4 points per game, which is seventh among A-10 leaders.

Winners of 11 straight, Davidson returns to action Tuesday evening when they host Massachusetts at 7 p.m.
