Many faith communities would rather talk about almost anything other than human sexuality, and for good reason: “It’s too hard, awkward, uncomfortable, divisive, perverted…It is too risky; we’ll lose members.” This is an occasion to consider one of the most challenging questions of our time: how to address the inclusion of persons who are gay, lesbian, transgender or do not conform to traditional roles/expressions of gender and sexuality. Taking up this question is not easy but it is necessary.
