DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson Wrestling team earned three wins on Friday evening from Gavin Damasco, Bryce Sanderlin and Mitchell Trigg but ultimately couldn’t stop the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb, who walked off the mat with a 22-9 victory.

The Bulldogs would push their way out to a 9-0 lead after winning the 125, 133 and 141 duals before the ‘Cats would begin to chip away at the lead.

Damasco took on Corbin Dion in the 149-lb. bout. He scored a takedown in the first period and an escape to take a 3-1 decision over the Bulldogs to give Davidson its first points of the night, 9-3.

Sanderlin stepped onto the mat to face Taylor Parks and earn a 7-4 decision to cut Gardner-Webb’s lead to three., 9-6.

The Bulldogs earned an SV 3-1, 6-2 and 4-3 decision in the next three rounds before heavyweight Mitchell Trigg would end the night on a high note for the ‘Cats, defeating Peyton Comas with a 3-0 decision.

The ‘Cats fall to 4-7 on the season and 1-3 in conference.
