Wildcat Swimming Earns First Medals at A-10 Championships
GENEVA, Ohio — Bronze medals in the men’s and women’s 200 medley relays marked the first night of competition for the Davidson Wildcats at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships Wednesday at the SPIRE Institute.
The Wildcat relays narrowly missed school records, while placing third overall in the first events of the meet.
The women’s quartet of Julia Goodhead, Anna Newman, Shelby Stanley and Martha Tripsa swam in 1:40.83, just 0.02 shy of the Davidson mark Stanley helped set two years ago.
The men’s relay of Jeremy Kemp, Cael McLaren, Miles Charles and Ian Brann swam to third in 1:29.08, just 0.05 off last year’s school-record time McLaren helped establish.
The Wildcats turned in three fifth-place finishes Wednesday as well, including in the men’s and women’s 800 free relays and in women’s 1M diving, where Annica Valmassei scored 228.95.
The women’s 800 relay of Stanley, Siena Senn, Kate Pottle and Abby Francis posted a time of 7:19.61, while Ben McClain, Ty McLaren, Jared Herr and Brann clocked in at 6:41.89.
