Foundations Workshop with Dr. Lucretia Berry – Sunday, Feb. 27

Foundations Workshop – Addressing Systemic Racism Sunday, February 27, 2022 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The DCPC Social Justice Committee invites members of the Davidson community to participate in a very special workshop designed to equip us to better address systemic racism in our community and our world.

ABOUT FOUNDATIONS: Curriculum Specialist, Dr. Lucretia Berry, and the

designed the Foundations course to equip learners with evidence-based knowledge to process racialized structures and recognize systems of inequality so that they are positioned to promote change. This trustworthy, eye-opening education is designed to also build trust among participants.

Topics covered include:

  • The historical context of the Race/ism construct
  • How policies and pseudo-science shaped narratives, which shaped our beliefs
  • The intersection of immigration and race/ism
  • Seeing and examining structural power
  • Seeing and examining our belief biases

 

ABOUT DR. LUCRETIA BERRY: Brownicity’s President & Learning Community Director, Lucretia Carter Berry, PhD, is an antiracism curriculum specialist, course designer and author of What LIES Between Us – Fostering First Steps Toward Racial Healing, a TEDx speaker, and a writer for www.(in)courage.me. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Iowa State University and her BA from South Carolina State University.

Masks will be required for all in-person participants.
