Lacrosse Set to Meet Campbell in Midweek Matchup

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Coming off another weekend victory on Saturday morning, the Davidson lacrosse team will get back to work on Wednesday night, set to take on Campbell University at 6:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Davidson Wildcats edged out Coastal Carolina by one goal each during the first three quarters of their non-conference match up on Saturday morning, ultimately defeating the Chanticleers 13-8 from inside Richardson Stadium. Gianna New and Julianne Carey led the goal-scoring brigade for Davidson, as the senior and sophomore each recorded a hat trick. Carey added one assist to the scoresheet while New was dominant on the draw with a game-high five draw controls. Freshman Riley Moore was key to Davidson’s draw as well, as she grabbed four of her own, while Erin Cooke (2 goals, 2 assists) and Lauren Arkell (1 goal, 3 assists) ran the offense with four points apiece.

KNOW THE FOE
Davidson holds the all-time series at a 4-1 advantage over the Camels, winning the last two meeting from Buies Creek. Campbell will meet the Wildcats after opening up the season 1-0 with a 19-8 win over Stetson on February 12 and are led by sophomore Sam Bischoff, who scored three goals and dished two assists in the win.

STATS WATCH
Through two games, Amanda Monahan ranks sixth in the nation in save percentage (.568) and 21st in saves per game with 10.5. Taking home the A-10’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor last week, Monahan also sits 13th nationally in goals-against average with 8.00 goals allowed per game. As a team, the Wildcats rank eighth in the country with 9.00 assists per game.

COMING UP
Davidson will celebrate its nine seniors from the class of 2022 on Sunday before the Wildcats’ game against Cincinnati. Katy Morris, Megan Filter, Sarah Hardy, Lauren Arkell, Emily Weld, Emma Johnson and tri-captains Hayden Callahan, Gianna New and Jane DiGregorio will all be celebrated prior to the 12 p.m. opening draw.
