DeVos Named A-10 Pitcher of the Week

by | Mar 8, 2022

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second time in as many weeks, a Davidson pitcher is the Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

This time it’s junior right-hander Nolan DeVos being honored, a week after Blake Hely earned the distinction.

“This is a nice recognition for Nolan,” said coach Rucker Taylor. “He’s put a lot of work into his preparation, and he’s pitched well. It’s wonderful when he can get us off to good starts to the weekend like he has.”

DeVos, the Wildcats’ Friday starter, is coming off a winning effort in the weekend series opener against Columbia, in which he threw five innings and struck out nine in a 5-2 win. He surrendered three hits and walked two, while improving to 2-1.

For the season, DeVos has an 0.53 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 17.0 innings. He’s issued just five walks, is holding opponents to a .159 average and has allowed just one extra base hit.

DeVos is scheduled to make his next start against Norfolk State this weekend.
