Track and Field Success at Gamecock Invitational

Shout out to the Wildcat track and field teams.

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Davidson Women’s Track and Field competed at the Gamecock Invitational Saturday, registering two wins and various top-10 finishes across the meet for the Wildcats. The ‘Cats were led by freshman Breila Fuller and Liz Simms who won the 1500m invite and 800m races, respectively. 

Fuller registered her second collegiate win in two weekends, running a time of 4:40.14 in the women’s 1500m invite while Simms earned the top spot in the 800m after crossing the finish line at 2:15.89. 

Juniors Natalie Abernathy and Emily Henkel both secured third place finishes in the 3000m steeplechase and the women’s 1500m.

Four members of the Davidson men’s track and field team finished atop the standings at the end of Saturday’s competition at the Gamecock Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina. Joe dos Reis, Josh Hardin, Nick Masterman and Raphael Oettl all placed first in their respective events. 

dos Reis earned the top spot in the men’s 800 invite with his time of 1:49.64 with teammate Owen Drometer behind him in second place, crossing the finish line at 1:50.28. Both picked up new personal bests. Hardin came out on top in the men’s 400 dash with a 48.18 mark. Masterman threw a 50.35m mark in the javelin to earn the top spot and Oettl claimed first in the men’s 800 with a time of 1:53.49. 

Cory Gaither and Bryce Anthony placed third and fourth in the 400m hurdles.
