Summit Coffee Hosting Event to Benefit Local Nonprofits May 5
On Thursday, May 5, Summit Coffee on Main Street in Davidson will partner with Music at St. Alban’s (M@SA) and LearnWorks at Ada Jenkins Center for a fun evening of poetry and music. Summit Coffee will also donate 10% of its sales to these partners throughout the day.
From 5:30 – 6:30 pm LearnWorks students will lead a special program with slam poetry and music. Students have been working with a poet throughout the spring to find their voices by creating their own slam poetry. The final project will be a performance of some of this poetry with musical accompaniment from Joey Rincon.
Following the LearnWorks performance, area musician and owner of Learn Music, Adam Wilson, will play from 7 to 9 pm to continue celebrating and supporting these organizations.
Music @ St. Alban’s provides concerts and programs in the North Mecklenburg region that enrich, educate, and entertain, showcasing exceptional artists and a diverse repertoire of music. https://www.musicatstalbansdavidson.org.
For nearly 20 years, LEARN Works has been the only free afterschool academic program for local elementary and middle school students who are 1-3 grade levels behind their peers. Students attend Davidson K-8, Cornelius Elementary, Huntersville Elementary, and Bailey Middle Schools, and are referred to our program by a school teacher or administrator.
LEARN Works partners with families, schools, and volunteers to support the academic progress of our students and to advance family engagement. LEARN Works also provides enrichment activities that many families could not otherwise afford.
