DFM Shoppers,

The strawberry shortcake fundraiser was a great success!

Last Saturday we welcomed over 2200 shoppers to the Davidson Farmers Market. That is a remarkable number and reflects the growing popularity of DFM. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to chat with people who came to the strawberry shortcake table and explain that we are a non-profit organization that depends on our sponsors and donors to keep us operating. Though our vendors do pay a fee to come to the market that money does not cover the expenses associated with our organization. So, a huge thank you to all who bought strawberry shortcake and even made an additional donation. It was a great feeling to experience so much generosity.

As the market continues to grow, I am acutely aware of how important it is to follow all of our safety regulations. We cannot have people in the market area prior to the 9 a.m. opening bell. If you do come before then and you see people shopping know that these are either vendors or volunteers. We offer early shopping to the volunteers who help us each week. (A very good reason to consider volunteering!)

We are also going to continue to strictly enforce the no pet policy. Holding your pet does not allow you to bring the animal into the market! No pets other than certified service animals. And if you do bring your pet to the market and leave him or her outside of our boundary you are still responsible for your animal. There is a lot going on and even the calmest animal may react poorly to all of the crowds, noise and smells. The Town of Davidson has strict ordinances about animal control and they will be seeing that these rules are followed.

Please help me, and my wonderful staff and volunteers, keep Davidson Farmers Market safe for everyone.

See you at the Market!

Amy Diamond, Board President
