Art Auction of Duplicates to Support Davidson College Art Galleries – May 19
Van/Every Smith Galleries at Davidson College will be partnering with Leland Little Auctions to sell duplicate prints and photographs found in our collection through a live online auction on May 19th.
The Galleries will keep our strike or print, but sell off the duplicate works. Proceeds from the sale will be used to acquire new works of art for the college, with a priority on filling gaps in our collection, including diversity of artists and media, as well as usefulness for teaching across disciplines.
Leland Little Auctions, based in Hillsborough, North Carolina, specializes in the sale of fine high end collectibles. Their upcoming May 19th auction, Modern Art & Design, will feature an array of modern and contemporary artworks and decorative objects, including duplicate works in the college’s collection by prominent artists such as Patrick Caulfield, Barbara Morgan, André Masson, Dieter Roth, Elisabeth Frink, and Howard Hodgkin, among others.
All of the pieces are available to view now and the auction will go live May 19th at 9:00am EST.
Please note: only works up for auction from the Van Every/Smith Galleries, as indicated in the provenance, will benefit the Galleries.
