Men’s Golf Wraps Up Memorable 2021-22 Campaign at NCAA Regional

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Davidson concluded its 2021-22 campaign Wednesday at the Palm Beach Gardens Men’s Golf Regional, which was played over the last three days on the PGA National Resort Champion layout.

As a team, the Wildcats finished 11th, with a 54-hole total of 903 (293-304-306). Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Will Davis (223 | +7) led the way coming home tied for 28th in his first NCAA appearance.

Viraj Garewal (70-78-76 = 224), who paced the ‘Cats after two days of play, signed for a 76 this afternoon to wrap up his standout career tied for 30th.

Davidson, which has captured two straight and three of the last four Atlantic 10 Championships, ends its 2021-22 campaign with two wins and five Top-5 showings.

Ethan Hall (+14 / T-48) and all-conference performers Clayton Tribus (+15 / T-54) and Alex Heffner (+20 / T-60) also competed for the Wildcats in their third NCAA Regional appearance.

No. 3 Vanderbilt led wire-to-wire claiming the Regional title by 12 shots over No. 22 Florida State (-8). No. 10 Florida (-2), No. 40 South Florida (+12) and College of Charleston (+14) will join the Commodores and Seminoles at the National Championship, which will be at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 27 to June 1.

Florida State’s Brett Roberts finished at 7-under (74-68-67) to capture individual medalist by two swings over Reid Davenport (Vanderbilt) and Fred Biondi (Florida).
