DeVos, Friend Named to All-Championship Baseball Team

DAVIDSON — Davidson pitcher Nolan DeVos and designated hitter Jacob Friend were named to Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team Saturday afternoon, following VCU’s 10-7 final win over Richmond at Wilson Field.
A junior right-hander from nearby Harrisburg, DeVos had one of the five-day tournament’s most dominant performances. In Wednesday’s 6-2 win over George Mason, he tossed six innings and scattered four hits while striking out seven. He improved to 9-2.
Friend, a freshman from Arlington, Va., hit .385 (5-for-13) in the event and turned in his best offensive game of the year in the win over Mason. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs and drove in the game’s first three runs. It was the first three-hit game of his career and his season-best in RBIs as well. He added a triple and two RBIs in the Friday’s loss to Richmond and had one hit against VCU.
