Patsy Lineberger McCall

Pawleys Island, South Carolina – Patsy Lineberger McCall, formerly of Davidson, North Carolina passed away June 3, 2022. Patsy was born July 12, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Henry V. and Christine D. Lineberger of Mooresville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard B. McCall and her two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Jill M. Letchworth and husband Richard of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, and her grandchildren Mary Katherine Letchworth Cooke (Jay) of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and Kenzie J. Letchworth of the Big Island of Hawaii. She was also the Great-Grandmother of Henry R. and Rosemary M. Cooke.

Patsy chose to be a floral designer at an early age and was able to practice her craft and perfect her skills, primarily in the Charlotte and Davidson communities for over 60 years. She learned from many of the best English designers on her numerous visits to Europe and the Continent and was the owner of Fresh Innovations for many years in Charlotte. Patsy enjoyed designing flowers for weddings, holidays, and any occasion that was always made better by her knowledge, her willingness to put in long hours, her openness to new design techniques, as well as her appreciation of the beauty of the traditional approach. Her floral design skills brought her great joy in seeing her hard work enjoyed and appreciated by generations of families.

Patsy relished the time she was able to watch her granddaughter, Mary Katherine, and grandson, Jackson, as they grew from infants into adulthood. She watched dance recitals, soccer games and was involved in their lives from elementary school through their college years. Patsy was also able to visit with that next generation as she shared time with her great grandson, Henry, and great granddaughter, Rosemary. Their lives will be forever blessed by the time they were able to spend with their grandmother GP.

One of her many beautiful arrangements – this one for a July 4th wedding.

Patsy spent the last years with her daughter, Jill, and son-in-law, Richard, as she enjoyed her daily walks, visiting with her friends, old and new, and any adventure that involved exploring gardens throughout the Low Country. The family is especially grateful to all of Patsy’s Charlotte and Davidson friends who reached out to her, checked up on her, and helped her remember the many good times and places they shared with her over decades of friendship.

The family suggests that a positive way to honor Patsy’s life would be a gift to Davidson College Presbyterian Church, Brookgreen Gardens, or any organization of choice that honors the beauty of flowers. A memorial service to honor Patsy’s legacy will be held at a later date.
