DFM Shoppers,

June 19th is Fathers Day!  The Davidson Farmers Market will be chock full of great gifts for your favorite Dad.  Why not grab something delicious for a cookout? Our vendors will have choice cuts of meats along with fresh picked fruits and veggies.  Or, perhaps your Dad would like a few plants to add to his garden or…fresh cut flowers for his office. Finally, but definitely equally great, our specialty product vendors will have those locally handmade body products to buy for the hard working Dad.

As you are celebrating your Dad, remember June 19th is also the day America celebrates the Juneteenth holiday. It is an important day set aside to recognize the ever lasting impacts of slavery and also it is the day we at the DFM stop to recognize the important contributions made by Black farmers and inventors like George Washington Carver, who pioneered crop rotation, and Booker T. Whatley, the creator of the Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. To learn more about them and other amazing Black leaders in U.S. agriculture, check out this link
