Robbery Suspects Arrested in Cornelius After Manhunt

Tuesday afternoon social media started lighting up with reports of police activity near Davidson. The news came just a day after the horrific shooting at the Highland Park, Illinois July 4th parade.

Neighbors in Cornelius reported police cars speeding down roads in neighborhoods and the sounds of helicopters overhead. Some residents in Antiquity said that police officers advised them to go shelter in their homes.

Just after 4 p.m., the Town of Davidson posted the following:

The alert shared by the town on Tuesday afternoon.

“Please note there is currently additional police activity in our region.
At present, Cornelius Police and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are conducting an active investigation. The initial call indicated robbery suspects fled north on I-77 and the pursuit ended near Antiquity. Two suspects were arrested and one suspect is still outstanding.
At this time, the activity is not in Davidson; however, residents should remain vigilant and limit outdoor activity in this area. The investigation is tracking in the woods and fields in this vicinity. Please be aware there are no reports of active shooting in this incident.
Davidson Police are also positioned in town and ready to respond.
We will provide more information as it becomes available. Please continue to call 911 with any emergencies.”
 
Thankfully, within an hour that post was updated with the information that the SUSPECT WAS IN CUSTODY.
