Davidson’s 2022 field hockey season will start Aug. 26 and include 19 games, coach Zoe Almquist announced today.

After a preseason scrimmage against Appalachian State, the Wildcats will open the season against Georgetown, then follow that Friday night game with a home contest against Towson on Sunday, Aug. 28.

In all, the Wildcats will have 10 games at Belk Turf Field and nine on the road.

“We’re really excited for this 2022 campaign,” said Almquist. “We are looking forward to hosting and traveling to great opponents all around the country. I also feel so lucky to have the opportunity to compete in the A-10. Our opponents there are strong and always a welcome challenge. I can’t wait to see what this group accomplishes this year.”

In non-conference play, the Wildcats will also host William & Mary, Longwood, Bellarmine, Ball State and Appalachian State. They’ll visit Queens, Ohio, Holy Cross, Wake Forest and Villanova.

The seven-game Atlantic 10 slate begins with a Sept. 18 trip to Richmond. In league play, Davidson will also visit UMass, La Salle and Saint Louis and host Lock Haven, VCU and Saint Joseph’s.

The A-10 Tournament will begin Nov. 4.
