Plank Takes Part in Maccabiah Games

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Incoming Davidson women’s basketball transfer Maddie Plank is representing the United States in the Maccabiah Games this summer in Netanya, Israel.

Every four years for three weeks, Jewish athletes come from all over the world for the Maccabiah Games, an Olympic-style competition that is among the top
international sporting events in the world. Over 8,200 Americans have participated in the Maccabiah Games in Israel, including almost 100 US Olympians.

Plank and Team USA opened up competition on Sunday, July 17 against Team Israel, and will conclude the double round robin bracket on Friday, July 22 at 8 a.m. EST against Australia.

Sunday, July 17 – Team USA vs. Israel
Team USA got off to a strong start to tip off the 2022 Maccabiah Games, routing Israel 72-47 from inside Yeshurun Hall. Five Americans reached double figures in scoring, as Plank dropped 12 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Monday, July 18 – Team USA vs. Israel
With their second game in as many days, Team USA continued to torch the nets to take down Israel 75-43. Plank was the second leading scorer for the United States, hitting a pair of three’s and ending the day with 14 points.

Wednesday, July 20 – Team USA vs. Australia
Plank had a tournament-best day on Wednesday morning, picking up 18 points with a made trey and a 3-for-3 effort from the free throw line en route to Team USA’s 88-61 victory over Australia.
