SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Kyle Gorant, Jaden Hardrick and Finlay Holston of the Davidson Wrestling team have been named to the Southern Conference Spring Academic All-Conference Team, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

“The culture here at Davidson College is about ‘Athletics Done Right,’ and we are proud of the academic standard that has been set here by Kyle, Jaden and Finlay,” Assistant Head Coach Ty Eustice said. “These three scholar-athletes have represented Davidson Wrestling incredibly well, and they continue to be leaders for this program.”

Gorant and Holston graduated from Davidson last semester while Hardrick is preparing for his junior year on the mat.

A total of five hundred and twenty-five student-athletes earned 637 spots on the team. To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.

The 639 total spring selections are second only to the 742 from the spring of 2020, when participation requirements were relaxed and some schools instituted measures of academic relief due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With league competition in 2020-21 occurring mostly in the second semester, the league named just one team for that academic year instead of naming fall and spring squads as usual.
