‘Cats Top PFL Preseason Coaches’ Poll for Third Straight Year
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson Wildcats have been picked to three-peat as the 2022 Pioneer Football League Champions in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll, voted by each of the league’s head coaches. The ‘Cats earned eight of the 11 first place votes and two second place votes, with San Diego earning three first place votes.
With coaches unable to vote for their own teams, Davidson earned 98 of the maximum 100 points available with 10 points are awarded per each first place vote.
The Wildcats went 8-3 overall, with a 7-1 conference record, earning a share of the PFL title. Davidson kicks off this season on September 3 against Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala. at 1 p.m. ET.
The upcoming 2022 season marks the 30th year for the Pioneer Football League – the nation’s only non-scholarship, football-only NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference. The league will feature 11 teams each playing an eight-game schedule to determine the league champion and recipient of the automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Championship.
