LEARN Works, Ada Jenkins signature afterschool education program for students 1-3 grade levels behind their peers, needs volunteers for the upcoming school year.

LEARN Works is free and conducted afterschool throughout the academic year, providing elementary and middle school students with academic support and enrichment programming. Without developmental and supplemental instruction, these students most likely would continue to lag behind.

Teachers and administrators at CMS schools in Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville refer their students to us, and CMS buses bring them to our campus. Our teachers create individualized learning plans via the MobyMax (reading/math) curricula. Volunteer tutors and classroom assistants also work with the students.

LEARN Works’ classrooms at the Ada Jenkins Center are at their 60-student capacity. Recognizing that the need is much greater, LEARN Works has expanded to a second location in Huntersville – and will serve up to an additional 12 students during the 2022-2023 school year. Volunteers are needed at both locations. Per CMS guidelines, volunteers must be 18+. To learn more click here and complete an application by August 31. (Returning volunteers, simply update your Volunteer Profile by August 31.)
