Ditcham Earns A-10 Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honor
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson’s Brooke Ditcham has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is the first of Ditcham’s career and follows her two-goal performance in last Thursday’s 2-0 win over Gardner-Webb. She’s splitting this week’s award with Dayton’s Itala Gemelli.
“We’re really happy for Brooke to get the A-10 award after a very good game and a couple of great goals,” said Davidson coach Adam Denton. “As Brooke said in her post-game interview, the team performance was very good in our home opener, and she was really happy to have helped the team earn the victory.”
A junior midfielder, Ditcham scored 11 seconds after entering the game in the 27th minute against Gardner-Webb and added a second goal five minutes later, helping the Wildcats earn their second win.
Now 3-0-1 after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Furman, the Wildcats are off to their best four-game start since 2008.
Next, they’ll host Wofford at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Alumni Stadium.
