9 am – 12 pm, Rain or Shine, No Pets Please!

Shopping starts at the ringing of the market bell.

Some might say this is their favorite time of year! We agree at the DFM! We are excited for our growers who are planting their new season of crops and we look forward to this produce in the days and the months to come. We are also grateful that our vendors are continuing to bring to market loads of summertime favorites: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, corn, melons, and so much more! Lots to choose from for your meals, whether they are a quick bite before you head off to a special event, or a yummy comfort food delight for a group of family or friends. As a reminder, some of the DFM vendors offer pre-order options (noted by PO in the Vendor Offerings) to help with your meal planning and shopping during this busier time of year.

The DFM will continue our Apple Fundraiser this Saturday. Apples available this Saturday at the DFM: Gala, Honey Crisp, Jona Gold, and Cortland: $5/lb, $8/2lb bag.

The apples are mountain fresh and a special tasty snack to include in your child’s school bag. On the lunch box note, don’t forget to check out all of our vendors for that special treat to help your student power through the day!

The Davidson Farmers Market Board applications are open, and are available on our website, www.davidsonfarmersmarket.org. Applications will be due with a $25 non-refundable application fee no later than November 15, 2022.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance or denial no later than December 1, 2022.

DFM History

It has been 15 years since a small group of Davidson citizens decided we needed a Farmers Market. I doubt even the most ardent fan of markets or the most optimistic could have imagined the Market we have today. With close to 40 vendors, an average of 1800 shoppers a week and strong community support we set a high standard for what a local, producer only market should look like. Saturday mornings are a cacophony of sights and sounds and smells and I delight in finding a few minutes to sit and take it all in. I love to watch the families introducing their children to fresh fruits and vegetables and piling carriages high with flowers or seeing a small hand reach up to touch a brightly colored pepper. I listen to vendors answering questions about how to best prepare okra or explaining about different types of mushrooms. Our vendors are passionate about their product because they produce it themselves and despite long lines and hot sun, they always seem pleased to be at the Market. It feels so good to see people listening to the music and placing tips in the can, and sometimes singing along. Maybe you are part of a group or a club or a team that would like to come out and help set up and enjoy the perks of fellowship and early bird shopping.

So come to shop or volunteer or both, and take some time to let all the special parts of the Market really sink in. It’s worth the time!

Amy, DFM Board Chair

Vendor Spotlight

If you have been to the DFM before, you most likely have tasted a treat or two from How Sweet It Is. Kristine Turco is the owner/operator of this sweet baked goods company and each week she brings her delicious, hand made treats to the DFM. Kristine believes in small batch baking and providing top quality in each delightful bite! Her specialty desserts, cakes, cookies, homemade pies, assorted muffins, breads and other sweet treats have been handed down through her family by generations. Time tested goodness! Pre ordering is welcome. Please email Kristine at [email protected] to place an order by Thursday, for pick up at the DFM each Saturday.

DFM Growing Kids Club

The Davidson Farmers Market is happy to announce the return of the DFM Growing Kids Club. This special program allows young gardeners to sell their home-grown produce (free booth rental). Any child can participate two times per year. [email protected] for more information.
