Wayne Announces 2023 Lacrosse Team Captains
DAVIDSON, N.C. –– Davidson lacrosse head coach Kim Wayne has announced her team captains ahead of the 2023 season on Thursday.
The co-captains, Grace Fahey and Erin Cooke, are impact players both on and off the field for the Wildcats, displaying veteran leadership abilities throughout their time at Davidson.
“Over the past three years, Erin and Grace have proven themselves as leaders,” Wayne said. “They are honest, hard working, and dedicated teammates, who will do anything for this program.”
The duo returns as Davidson’s top-two offensive pieces, as Fahey is the Wildcats’ leading returning goal scorer with 45 scores during her junior year, and Cooke led the 2022 squad in total points with 30 goals and 37 assists.
With a senior class filled with nine experienced ‘Cats, Fahey and Cooke will lead a Davidson squad who finished 13-5 during the 2022 season and set a new program-record for single season victories.
“Despite having two strong captains, our focus this year will be encouraging leadership among all nine of our seniors,” added Wayne. “They are a strong group who have helped build the foundation of this program, and we believe our success will be determined by their ability to push, challenge and love their teammates. We all have a goal to win the A10 and I am confident that Erin, Grace and our senior class will help us achieve that goal.”
Fahey, Cooke and the rest of the Wildcats will look ahead to new year for a February 2023 season opener at Richardson Stadium.
