by | Sep 25, 2022

Wildcat Denis Krioutchenkov kicked this laser shot that was the ‘Cats first goal.

DAVIDSON – Denis Krioutchenkov’s goal set Davidson on its way Saturday night, and Blake Peterson’s score wrapped up a 2-0 Atlantic 10 victory over George Mason at Alumni Stadium.

The George Mason goalie’s best effort wasn’t good enough to stop the shot that resulted in the ‘Cats first of two goals.

With their second win of the week, the Wildcats improved to 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Krioutchenkov scored his team-leading fourth goal in the 38th minute, firing in a free kick from right of the goal.

Peterson’s first career goal came on a header in the 75th minute after Connor Smith’s initial shot was saved and deflected in his direction.

Keeper Lou Liedtka notched the shutout with four saves and most notably made back-to-back point-blank stops in the 60th minute.

Davidson finished with advantages in shots (11-9) and corner kicks (6-1).
