The ODD Sock – October News

by | Oct 4, 2022

October will be exciting for The ODD Sock. We will continue to collect new and very gently used socks. We encourage people to go through their sock drawers and donate unused or gently used socks for distribution to the homeless this winter. All sizes, shapes and colors are acceptable.

Collection locations in Davidson are Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream shop on Main Street, The Egg Cafe on Griffin Street., and 77 Grounds Coffee Shop on Jetton Street. We also have drop off locations outside of Davidson: The Egg Cafe and Knit one and Stitch One in Huntersville, Bethel Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Cornelius(office), EmbroidMe Lake Norman and BMS, all in Cornelius. Karrousel Kids Consignment in Matthews, Freedom Ministries Church and Outreach in Concord, and Ben and Jerry’s in Asheville.

Community service hours will be available every Wednesday in October from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for middle and high school students. The location will be at Mini-Storage in Davidson and the address is 409 Jetton Street. The service will be sorting and packing socks for delivery to homeless shelters. This location is not air conditioned or heated. Please email [email protected] if you wish to take advantage of this opportunity.

The lead sock wrangler is looking for a person or persons who would like to be more involved with The ODD Sock than just sorting socks. Please email [email protected] if you have an interest in this voluntary, intern position.
