Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA Regionals

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — The Davidson women’s tennis team finished up at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Regional Championships on Saturday in their penultimate tournament of the fall season.

“The team has done an amazing job of working towards implementing what we are doing in practice onto the match court,” said head coach Susanne Depka. “It takes courage to put yourself in uncomfortable situations, but if done consistently the team will find success. I’m super proud of each player and their growth over the last couple days. I look forward to a few more weeks of practice before our last fall tournament.”

Daniela Porges and Savanna Kollock highlighted the Wildcats’ doubles play, as the duo advanced to the semifinals of Draw B with an 8-2 victory over Presbyterian in the quarterfinals. Linden Patterson and Olivia Hooper also found success on the Draw B doubles courts, earning an 8-2 win over UNC Wilmington on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinal round. 

Josie Schaffer and Kavya Patel won an 8-6 match against Wake Forest in the A2 Draw’s round of 32, while Franny Shea and Emma Heiderscheit represented the ‘Cats in the A1 Draw. 

On the singles side, Patel highlighted Davidson’s time in Winston Salem as the sophomore reached the semifinals of the B2 Draw after a 6-2, 6-2 win on Friday and 6-3, 6-3 victory on Thursday. Kollock also picked up a singles win, with a 6-1, 6-4 result against Charleston Southern in the round of 16 from draw B1 to reach the quarterfinal round.
