Women’s Soccer Will Host Duquesne in A-10 Tournament
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson will host Duquesne Friday night in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Tournament, the league announced Sunday evening.
The Wildcats (12-2-4 overall, 5-2-3 A-10) earned the No. 4 seed in the eight-team postseason event, and the top four seeds — Saint Louis, Dayton, VCU and Davidson — will host opening-round games. It’s the second trip to the A-10 Tournament for the Wildcats, who closed the regular season with a 1-0 win over La Salle Sunday (more on that, here), and it’s the first time they’ll host an A-10 postseason game.
Davidson and No. 5 Duquesne entered the season’s final day tied for fourth with 15 points. But the Dukes lost 2-1 at George Washington, giving the Wildcats an 18-15 lead in points.
The foes know one another well — two weeks ago, Davidson and Duquesne played to a 1-1 draw in Pittsburgh.
The Wildcats first reached the A-10 Tournament in the 2020-21 spring season, when Davidson qualified for a condensed four-team field and reached the final.
Davidson last hosted a conference tournament game in 2011 when Southern Conference foe Furman visited.
