Men’s Soccer Closes 2022 with Impressive Win at Rhode Island

KINGSTON, R.I. – Davidson capped its campaign with an impressive 2-0 win at Rhode Island in Atlantic 10 men’s soccer action Saturday evening.

The Wildcats, who entered 0-4-0 all-time in Kingston, conclude the season 6-8-3 overall and 3-4-1 in league play, while the Rams finish 6-3-7 and 2-2-4.

Davidson, which started the year 0-4-0, went 5-4-3 over its last 12, highlighted by shutout wins over UMass and Rhode Island to close. In all, the Wildcats recorded six clean sheets in 2022.

Denis Krioutchenkov, the league’s top freshman goal scorer, put the ‘Cats in front 1-0 with a successful penalty kick at the 30:49 mark. It was the Milwaukee, Wisc., native’s ninth strike of the season.

Just 34 seconds into the second half, classmate Alonzo Clarke extended Davidson’s lead with his second collegiate score.

Lou Liedtka was impressive all night in goal for the Wildcats stopping a career high nine shots en route to his third career shutout.
