Why Teaching Maus Matters Now More than Ever

by | Oct 31, 2022 | Arts & Entertainment, DavidsonLearns, News, Top Middle Box

How can we resist efforts to ban books in our public schools and libraries? For Davidson College’s Scott Denham, the answer was to teach the banned material in a free online class. In January 2022, the school board in McMinn County, Tennessee banned Art Spiegelman’s Maus from the middle school curriculum. In response, Dr. Denham offered a class to McMinn County 8th grade and high school students, who read and discussed Maus together.
