Volleyball Concludes Regular Season in 3-1 Loss to Loyola-Chicago

The Wildcats had a historic 20-win season, and will be heading to the A-10 Tournament.

 

CHICAGO — After winning a historic 20 games during the regular season, the Davidson volleyball team concluded its Atlantic 10 campaign on Saturday in a 3-1 loss to Loyola Chicago.

The Wildcats finish the regular season at 20-9 overall and 14-4 in A-10 play, while gearing up for the league’s semifinal match up next, Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Ramblers took the first two sets swiftly, downing the ‘Cats 25-13 in each and coming from behind in set four to clinch the match with a 25-21 win.

Davidson stole set three from the A-10’s regular season champions, 25-21, after hitting .143 and shutting down Loyola, down the stretch, with two blocks and two aces.

Overall, freshman Emma Slusser led the Wildcats with 11 kills, while rookie Jackie Bardin added eight strikes. Sola Omonije hit .300 with three kills on 10 swings and Jessie Doyal dished 19 assists.

Loyola Chicago’s Karlie McNabb paced the Ramblers’ offense, hitting .281 with 12 kills while the team hit .310 on the day.

Davidson will return to play at the Atlantic 10 Championship next Saturday in Saint Louis, Mo. The ‘Cats will meet the winners of the first match of the tournament, with the No. 4 seed and the No. 5 seeds, in the semifinals.
