Monday – November 21

Strange New Worlds

Nov 21 @ 7:00 p.m.

Davidson Branch Library

Join us on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm for the Strange New Worlds book club! This month, we will be discussing the book The City and The City by China Miéville. You can attend this program on Zoom or at the Davidson Branch.

Synopsis:  – “Inspector Tyador Borlú must travel to Ul Qoma to search for answers in the murder of a woman found in the city of Besźel. Beszel and Ul Qoma share the same ground, but their citizens are not allowed to react to one another, learning to “unsee” the other city and its inhabitants from a young age. Enforcing this division is a mysterious power called Breach. When an archaeology student is found dead, Inspector Tyador Borl gets caught up in a case that forces him to navigate precariously between the cities, perhaps into the sinister worlds that straddle them.

Tuesday – November 22

Manga Mashup

Nov 22 @ 4 – 5:00 p.m.

Davidson Branch Library

This month’s meeting has been moved Tuesday, as the Library will be closed for Thanksgiving on our usual Thursday. Been reading any manga lately? Come share with us what you’re reading, or maybe some of your favorites! We’re not a regular book club. We’re an “UnBook Club!” What’s an Unbook Club, you ask? We don’t all agree to read the same things. (After all, some like shojo more than shonen, or like the mecha genre more than the magical girls type. Some might even like both!) Here we all take turns sharing what we’re currently reading, give and ask for recommendations, and share our love of manga! We play games, make crafts, and hang out. This program will be provided by Davidson library staff, and is recommended for teens ages 12 to 18.

Wednesday – November 23

Secret Society of Crafters – Hearts on Fiber

Nov 23 @ 10:00 a.m.

208 South Main Street

Crafting is more fun with other people, which is why we created the “Secret” Society of Crafters. The title says “secret,” but we’re a not-so-secret, not-so-exclusive group who meets to stitch, craft, crochet, knit, sit and talk. We may or may not talk about knitting, yarn bombing, hand dying, or the latest stitch. We may even talk about world domination. You won’t know unless you come. Connect with crafters in the area, find the motivation to pick up that project again, and benefit from the wisdom of a passionate crafting group. The “Secret” Society of Crafters meets outside the store every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. weather permitting. We hope to see you there!

Trivia Night at Summit
