ReadDavidson Partners with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library for its Annual Community Read
ReadDavidson, an annual town-wide reading initiative that started in 2007, is a partnership between the Town of Davidson, the Davidson Public Library, Main Street Books, and local avid readers. The ReadDavidson committee encourages people to read selected books and attend fun book-related events that make the titles come to life.
For 2023, ReadDavidson is excited to announce that it is joining forces to support and enhance the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s (CML) Community Read initiative. This partnership will encourage the Davidson community to read (or listen to) the book, talk about it, attend library programs, and celebrate the love of reading.
“The Community Read is designed to bring people together to talk about the same books and to establish a community of readers and learners,” said Marie Harris, Davidson Public Library Branch Manager and ReadDavidson committee member. “The library anticipates many fun and interactive events built around this year’s theme of friendship.”
ReadDavidson and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library are pleased to announce the following book selections, all chosen with friendship in mind. There’s a book for any age!
Adult (Fiction): The People We Keep by Allison Larkin
Young Adult (Fiction): The Edge of Anything by Nora Shalaway Carpenter
Middle Grades (Fiction): Front Desk by Kelly Yang
Children’s Picture Book: The Big Umbrella by Amy June Bates
“We’re so excited about this new partnership between ReadDavidson and Community Read!” notes Town of Davidson Communications Director and ReadDavidson committee member Amanda Sloan. “We’ll still be able to plan events that are unique to Davidson and have programming that is specific for our town, but it will also be a part of this larger county-wide conversation thanks to the reach of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.”
For all the latest ReadDavidson information see www.townofdavidson.org/readdavidson. This page includes links to purchase any (or all!) of the titles at a 10% discount from our local favorite Main Street Books. We’ll share information about upcoming events here as well.
As part of the initiative, an increased number of copies of each title will be available at no cost through the Davidson Public Library for all residents. Please contact the Davidson Public Library Branch directly with any questions about library books.
