Quite Still the Night – a Poem by Jody Seymour
Quite still the night
disturbed by stars
singing like angel voices
Shepherds struggled to
understand why
the selection was theirs
Quite still the night
but for a knock
heard late by a
sleepy and tired
innkeeper who had
no room but
gave them space
out back
Quite still the night
animals displaced
awakened from sleep
to witness a birth
amidst their home
even surprised were they
Quite still the night
now for you
to listen to this
quite silent night
The noisy world needs
this quite
more than ever
