I hope this finds you resting, if not fully under a blanket with a book in hand, during this strange and wonderful gap of time before the new year. I just finished The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell on Jessica’s recommendation, and it is fantastic. From the breadcrumb trail of a Renaissance Italian true crime, O’Farrell renders the intricate inner life of Lucrezia de Medici, a prodigy of painting and intellect whose fate is doomed as soon as she is betrothed to the ambitious Duke Alfonso II. If you enjoyed reading The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier or Matrix by Lauren Groff, I highly recommend this one.

This is our last newsletter of 2022, but it’s coming without profound reflection because I, too, have been resting. But keep an eye on your inbox for some wild and whimsical 2022 highlights coming soon!

Our brick and mortar hours this week:

W-F: 10 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm for New Year’s Eve
Sunday: Closed for New Year’s Day

And! We will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday, January 3 and 4, for annual inventory. Our staff will be counting and organizing every single book in the store. We’ll be ready to reopen, bright and clean and ready for another fantastic year, on January 5.
