Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

Community members are invited to the town’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Davidson Town Hall (216 S. Main St.) on Monday, January 16, at 10:00 a.m. The program will feature guest speakers President Douglas Hicks of Davidson College and Reverend Reginal Coffey of Reeves A.M.E. Zion Church in Davidson. The event will also include spoken word performances by Michael Connor and Chandra DuBose, as well as several musical selections. Light refreshments will be served before the program.

“It’s essential to come together as a community to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and I hope many folks will be able to join us for this special event,” said Eugene Bradley, Davidson’s Housing and Equity Director.

The town will also follow up the celebration by hosting a public meeting to launch the planning of the 2024 MLK Day. Please join us on Wednesday, January 18 at 11:00am in the Community Room at the Davidson Public Library, as it will be critical for community members to be involved to plan a robust MLK celebration that best reflects our town.

For more information about the event or to join the 2024 planning committee, please contact Eugene Bradley at [email protected] or by calling 704-940-9653.
