The Spotted Salamander

Ever wonder what’s happening in the woods during the wintertime while a lot of creatures are hibernating? Join Allen Lloyd, a local naturalist, and WOW, on a short hike in search of the Spotted Salamander and learn about this fascinating and gorgeous amphibian and why wintertime is when they are particularly active.

You’ll learn about the salamander’s habitat, reproductive cycle, diet, and why the Spotted Salamander spends the majority of its time during the year underground and is only seen for a short period of time in the winter and early spring. We’re very happy to have Allen return to lead this popular outing for us. This outing is for children with their families. The minimum age is 5 years old. Wear shoes or boots that you don’t mind getting muddy. We will be on and off trails in a local wetland. Remember to bring water!  No dogs or strollers, please.
