Joe dosReis Wins 800 Meters at the Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Davidson’s men’s track and field team wrapped up the weekend on the second day of the Carolina Challenge on Saturday. Joe dosReis highlighted the final day with a win in the men’s 800-meters.

The senior from Smithfield, R.I., captured his fourth career indoor win in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.82 as the race came down to a photo finish. Furman’s Matthew Smith and dosReis came down to the wire, but it was dosReis who crossed the finish line one one-hundredth of a second ahead of Smith.

In the 3,000 meters, Charlie Siebert and Kenny Eheman both shattered their personal records. Siebert, finished fifth in the race, and beat his previous best mark by 12 seconds with a final time of 8:20.24. Eheman, a sophomore from Raleigh, ran an 8:23.91 to snap his previous personal best time by nine seconds.

In the high jump, senior Jordan Benson finished tied for fifth after clearing the bar at 1.95 meters. This was Benson’s best indoor jump since he jumped a career-best 2.08 meters at the A-10 Indoor Championships last February.

The men’s track team will be back in action next weekend where the squad will be split between the Bob Pollack Invitational hosted by Clemson and the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
