Longtime Davidson Chef And Caterer Still Making Beautiful Food

by | Jan 26, 2023

After 13 years, Chef Armin Desch says goodbye to Beaver Dam, the 10-acre historical property that hosted hundreds of weddings, memorials, birthday parties, and more.

Beaver Dam Historic Home has been a popular wedding and event venue for over a decade, but now it is time “to open its doors to college classes and other learning opportunities,” as Desch said recently. Beaver Dam is the property of Davidson College who hired Armin’s Catering in 2010 to oversee the venue rental.

Historical Beaver Dam was built in 1829 and housed General Lee Davidson and his family.

Due to the rich history contained within this Beaver Dam property, Davidson College and the Town of Davidson have maintained the site as a historical park. In more recent years, the rustic property has made the perfect scene for many couples to say “I do” and to celebrate events amidst the rustic barn, authentic water well, bamboo forest, and magnolia tree.

Desch, owner of Armin’s Catering, stated, “We have made great memories here at Beaver Dam. I’ve considered this place an extension of my home for years. Our staff is sad to see it go, but we look forward to our next exciting chapter, and we know that the college will continue to hold it dear for their students. We have many wonderful venues in the area to refer you to and will continue to be a steward to our Davidson and Lake Norman Communities.”

At this time, Beaver Dam is not accepting any future events at the venue. Moving forward, Davidson College will be running a historical core curriculum for the property. Armin’s Catering & Events is still thriving as a full service catering company and a commissary kitchen.

Desch said, as he looked back on hosting events at Beaver Dam and looked ahead to the future, “To anyone that has worked with us, followed us, or come across our work, thank you. We’ve been lucky enough to work for some really interesting and kind Davidson clients, and we thank them for making this such a great ride, so far. We hope to continue to work with this wonderful community.”
