Women’s Tennis Drops Pair of Matches to Open 2023

The women played App State inside – in the Knobloch Tennis Center on Saturday.

 

DAVIDSON, N.C. / BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Davidson women’s tennis team opened their spring season with dual matches against the App State Mountaineers and Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday and Sunday. The Wildcats fell in both matches despite solid efforts in doubles action from Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges.

On Saturday, the ‘Cats opened the season against App State, and the lone victory came in doubles action, 6-4. App State won the previous two doubles matches to gain the doubles point.

In singles, the Mountaineers won the top-three matches which clinched the victory.

Against Virginia Tech, Porges and Patel once again picked up a win with a 4-2 decision over the Hokies to go undefeated on the weekend. In the top singles match, Josie Schaffer battled Dariya Radulova to the wire, but fell in a marathon match, 6-7, 7-6, 1-0.

The women’s tennis team will be back on the court next Saturday (Feb. 4) against UNC Ashville at home.
