Strong Start Led #11 Blue Devils Past Lacrosse
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson lacrosse dropped its first game of the season on Wednesday night, falling 18-9 to the No. 11 Duke Blue Devils inside Richardson Stadium.
Duke scored seven of the game’s first nine goals and pulled ahead to an 11-4 lead by halftime.
The Wildcats had their most productive quarter in the third, outscoring the Blue Devils 4-3 and pulling back within six, 14-8, heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Erin Cooke, Josie Lambert and Riley Cochrane led the ‘Cats on a three-goal tear to close out the frame and erased a once nine-goal deficit, but Duke held Davidson to just one goal in the fourth to pull away for good.

Duke’s Maddie Jenner, and the nation’s leading draw controller, won 11 draws and scored a hat trick.
The ‘Cats will hit the road for a contest at Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 19. Opening draw is slated for 12 p.m.
