Lauren Jackson Coplan Concert and Conversation

by | Feb 27, 2023

Lauren Jackson Coplan and her daughter Samantha.

Music at St. Alban’s featured Davidson native Lauren Jackson Coplan on the piano on Sunday, February 26.  After college, Lauren continued her music studies in Manhattan, teaching piano there as well. She has recently completed her MFA at the NC School of the arts in Winston-Salem, and now lives in Nashville with her 13-year-old daughter, Samantha.

The pre-concert conversation moderated by Jane Cain.

Lauren returned to Davidson to present a classical piano repertoire. The concert included work from Bach, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, and the Argentine composer Alberto Ginestera.

For the last piece in the performance, Lauren was joined by Samantha on the violin.

Prior to the concert, DavidsonLearns hosted a conversation with Lauren and Samantha, along with Lauren’s mother, Shirley Gilpin, a flute and piano teacher who was a longtime member of the Charlotte Symphony orchestra. Jane Cain moderated this conversation with the three generations of performing artists.

Three generations of musicians.
