Sutphin Named to Women’s Basketball Second Team All-Conference
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Redshirt-junior Elle Sutphin was named to the Atlantic 10’s All-Conference Second Team ahead of the tournament championship, the league office announced Tuesday.
A native of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Sutphin averages 16.4 points per game this season while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor, and ranks sixth among the A-10 in scoring. The league leader in free throw percentage (88.3%), Sutphin ranks 19th nationally at the line and 63rd in made field goals (176).
Sutphin has 19 total blocks this season, all of which came during Atlantic 10 play, and she averaged 15.0 points per game while shooting 47-of-52 (90.2%) at the line during the conference season. She’s also recorded the first six double-doubles of her career this year while scoring in double-digits 24 times with nine 20-plus point performances and one 30-point effort against Jacksonville State.
Sutphin and the ‘Cats will begin their journey to an A-10 title on Wednesday, March 1 at 5 p.m. against St. Bonaventure.
