Lacrosse Soars Past Winthrop on Senior Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Grace Fahey recorded her second-straight seven-point performance on Wednesday afternoon to lead the Davidson lacrosse team past Winthrop, 16-6.

The win improves the Wildcats to 4-1 overall and marks their third straight victory.

Winthrop got on the board with the first goal of the game 10 minutes into the action, before Riley Redpath settled the score and set the ‘Cats off onto a four-goal tear.

With a 4-1 lead after one, the Wildcats scored four more to start off the second quarter with goals from Josie Lambert, Fahey, Allie Hartnett and Julianne Carey and took an 8-2 lead into halftime.

Fahey scored five of Davidson’s final eight goals of the game, while Amanda Monahan and the Davidson defense held the Eagles to just six shots in the second half to secure the win.

Prior to opening draw, the ‘Cats also honored their nine graduating seniors in the class of 2023.
