The Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry at the Ada Jenkins Center has seen increased demand over the past few months–199 people visited the pantry in January, compared with 139 in December–so the pantry has added an extra day of service; it’s now open every Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30-2:30 pm, as well as the second Saturday of each month. (To access the Food Pantry, families must call Loaves and Fishes in advance for a referral: 704-523-4333.)  Thanks to the community’s generosity, additional food donations are not needed at this time, but hygiene items are urgently needed:  shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and baby wipes. Volunteers are available to accept donations between 9:30-11:30 am, Tuesday through Thursday.

Our Economic Mobility team is working to provide clients with donated kitchen and household items for 10 families moving into new housing. Please visit our Amazon wishlist for easy ordering, if you are inclined to do so.

Do you know someone who owns or works for an experienced tree company?  Our campus is filled with many beautiful, mature trees, and several of them need some work. We would be grateful for a donated tree trim–and in exchange we’ll recognize your company in our 2023 Neighborhood Business Network. Contact Josh Kiser for details.

Please share the news: through April 15, we are again offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE). A limited number of walk-in appointments are available, but appointments are recommended. Click here for more information, including the tax documents needed.

You may have heard that the Ada Jenkins Center gymnasium has been transformed, thanks to Ayesha and Steph Curry, the Eat.Learn.Play Foundation, and Team Summit Foundation. Now, it’s open for public use…check out our Open Gym hours and rules, and come join us!
