BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Erin Cooke had a six-goal day during a 19-6 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday, as the Davidson lacrosse team won its fourth straight contest and remains 5-0 on the road.

Cooke finished the day with a game-high seven points, while Caroline Moran added a career-high five points off one goal and two assists. The Wildcats won 18 draw controls, led by Allie Hartnett and Alanna Dumalac who picked up five apiece.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, scoring three unanswered goals before Hartnett got Davidson on the board at the 9:06-mark in the first quarter.

From there, the Wildcats’ offense exploded into a 9-0 scoring run, including Eva Howell’s first career goal, and did not allow another Gardner-Webb goal until 10 minutes remained in the first half.

While Cooke scored two goals at the end of the half to give Davidson a 13-4 lead at the break, the senior captain also opened up the third quarter with her fourth goal of the day to give the Wildcats a running clock for the remainder of the contest.

Over the final 25-minute stretch, Davidson tacked on five more goals with strikes from Grace Fahey and Riley Moore while the Bulldogs closed out the game with a pair of goals to make it 19-6 as time expired.

Noelle Cegielski led the defense with three caused turnovers, while the ‘Cats finished 16-20 on clear attempts.
