Town of Davidson to Celebrate Arbor Day Saturday, March 18

by | Mar 7, 2023

Community invited to attend ceremony at corner of Jackson Street and Main Street

Davidson residents are invited to celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, March 18 at the corner of Jackson Street and Main Street, across from the former Davidson Town Hall building (216 S. Main St.) There will be a brief ceremony at 9:00 a.m. followed by a tree planting along the adjacent side path. If you are interested in participating in the tree planting event, visit the Davidson Lands Conservancy website at www.davidsonlands.org/dlc.events for more information. The annual Arbor Day celebration encourages individuals and groups to plant and care for trees.

The Town of Davidson was recently recognized as a 2022 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. This is the thirteenth year Davidson has been awarded this designation. Community volunteers, the town’s Livability Advisory Board, Trees Davidson (a program of the Davidson Lands Conservancy), and town staff all made contributions toward this achievement.

“Observing Arbor Day as a community supports the town’s commitment to stewardship of the tree canopy through maintaining the trees we have and working to plant more,” said Jesse Bouk, Town of Davidson Public Works Director. “Thanks to all who care for and celebrate trees as an important part of the town.”
