BROOKLYN, N.Y. – In addition to Davidson’s Foster Loyer earning second-team and all-academic recognition, fellow captain Sam Mennenga was named third-team all-conference as announced by the Atlantic 10 Tuesday.

A redshirt senior, Loyer finished the regular season ranked among league leaders in scoring (16.6/7th), 3-pointers made (69/7th), free-throw percentage (.918/1st), 3-pointers per game (2.3/7th), assists per game (4.4/4th), steals per game (1.8/4th) and minutes per game (35.2 / 7th).

In addition, the two-time all-league performer scored in double figures 21 times, while eclipsing the 20-point plateau nine times and the 30-point mark in four games. The nation’s fifth leading free-throw shooter recorded three double-doubles, including a 38-point, 11-rebound, 9-assist performance in the ‘Cats’ come-from-behind double-overtime win at Wright State.

For his work in the classroom as a Communication Studies major, Loyer is the first Wildcat to earn all-academic honors since Davidson joined the league prior to the 2014-15 season.

Mennenga, a redshirt junior from Auckland, New Zealand, also ranks among A-10 statistical leaders in several categories — scoring (15.5/11th), rebounding (6.6/9th), field-goal percentage (.515/11th) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.382/14th).

The 6-9 forward reached double figures in all but four games, while finishing the regular season with sixth double-doubles, highlighted by a career-best 27 points and 11 boards in a road victory at La Salle.

Davidson, which finished the regular season 15-15 overall, earned the league’s eighth seed and will take on St. Bonaventure Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the second round of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
