Davidson Farmers Market’s Prime Season Returns April 1

by | Mar 27, 2023

Our amazing vendors came together this morning for our annual pre-season kick off meeting. We are so excited to welcome our vendors new and old alike back to the market when prime season starts next Saturday, April 1. We hope we will see you, too! [photo from DFM Facebook page]

Dear Friends,

As we are busily preparing for the April 1st start of our Prime Market season, I want to take time to stop and fully appreciate all that has been accomplished during our first 15 years. A dream shared by an ardent group of local residents has become one of the most vibrant markets in our state.

Over 40 vendors bring a range of produce, meat, fish, plants, soaps, chocolates and baked goods to our Saturday morning market. These are local goods- healthy and fresh and sustainably grown or produced. Our vendors are very proud of their goods and that pride is evident as they talk with shoppers and with each other.

During Prime Season we have over 1500 shoppers on Saturday! These shoppers also enjoy shopping and eating in our community so we feel we are an important part of the economic vitality of downtown Davidson. We have been the recipients of very generous support from our Main Street neighbors and other local businesses and that support means we can keep our vendor fees low while providing support to our vendors, such as providing tents and tables for them to use each week.

The Davidson Farmers Market will continue to appeal to individual donors and to look for ways to educate our community about the value of healthy local foods. DFM is a non-profit organization! Our vendors fees do not cover our costs and we look to the community- both business and individual to keep us going. I also want to highlight the support we have received from the town of Davidson- it is a true partnership.

And so it is with a full and grateful heart that I thank you. What has been created over these years is a beautiful community- one that meets so many needs! Tangible ones and those marvelous, ill defined, difficult to quantify ones that make a community that draws people to its spaces. I hope you will join us!
