Residents Invited to Celebrate April is for Arts

by | Apr 4, 2023

April is for Arts is a month-long celebration of the arts in Davidson. This year, the town has selected the weekend of April 28-30 to focus on the arts in town and is excited to have many exciting events planned for residents and visitors, notably its annual Gallery Crawl and Art on the Green festival.

The Gallery Crawl takes place on Friday, April 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Main Street and South Main Street businesses and sidewalks will be transformed into lively art galleries. Homewood Suites at the Circles @ 30 will also showcase many artists.

Art on the Green is Davidson’s largest annual arts festival, bringing thousands of residents and visitors to Davidson’s Main Street and town green on Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This juried art show spotlights many of the region’s finest artists in a weekend-long celebration. Over 30 artists from the Lake Norman region, North Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maine will showcase and sell their creations in all types of media: sculpture, watercolor, photography, wood, glass, ceramics, etc. Patrons can stroll around the green to enjoy amazing art from a wide variety of talented regional artists, listen to live music, and enjoy local cuisine.

The Town of Davidson’s popular Concerts on the Green series kicks off its 2023 season that Sunday, April 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with the Davidson College Jazz Ensemble on the stage of the Davidson Public Library. Please bring your own picnic to enjoy on the town green or purchase food from local restaurants that will be open that evening.

“We are excited to be back this spring with our traditional April is for Arts events and are pleased to bring both visual and performance art to our residents this year,” said Economic Development Director Kim Fleming.

All of these events are made possible by generous sponsors: Arts and Science Council, Davidson College Friends of the Arts, and The Town of Davidson.
